A properly functioning headsail furling system depends on one essential factor: a straight, evenly tensioned forestay. Stainless Steel can stretch over time, making previously marked turnbuckles inaccurate.
Even small amounts of lateral curvature (“wow”) in the wire will create friction and possible binding inside the foil.
To ensure a smooth installation and optimal furling performance on your 3DFurler, always check your STAY tension before installation with a tension gauge.
We recommend using a LOOS gauge for this purpose.
